Day 16 – Your favorite female character.
Anita Blake from the Vampire Hunter series. Anita is the title character and protagonist of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. The series takes place in a parallel world where the supernatural exist alongside regular humans, with Anita’s jobs including the re-animation of the dead as well as the hunting and executing of supernatural creatures (mostly vampires) that have broken the law. Hamilton stated that she created the character after perceiving a gender inequality in detective fiction, with female characters rarely getting the same treatment as male heroes of the genre.
I love it because the heroine is Mexican/American and she just seems to hit me in all the right places as far as how she handles her growing power. I just love this series.
