#bookreview Kingdom by Anderson O’Donnell

My Review:
The future looks pretty bleak. The landscape is the main character in this story and as a reader I felt like I was a traveler blowing across the landscape. The writing was good with vivid descriptions, the plot okay (I figured out the ending a little early), you definitely knew where the characters stood. The biggest issue was I didn’t care enough and sometimes that sapped the power from otherwise strong scenes. It was a pleasure to interview the author and talk about the book and found out it was idea driven. That area of the book does shine. This is a dark long look in the crystal ball of a future humans may one day acquire and the future is not bright. It’ll be interesting to see where he takes the rest of this story.

Book Blurb:
In a secret laboratory hidden under the desert, a covert bioengineering project–codename “Exodus”–has discovered the gene responsible for the human soul.

Somewhere in the neon sprawl outside the nation’s collapsing economic core, a group of renegade monks are on the verge of uncovering a secret that has eluded mankind for centuries.

In a glittering tower high above the urban decay, an ascendant U.S. Senator is found dead–an apparent, yet inexplicable, suicide.

And in the streets below, a young man races through an ultra modern metropolis on the verge of a violent revolution….closing in on the terrible truth behind Exodus–and one man’s dark vision for the future of mankind.

Welcome to Tiber City.
