This Internet book blogging thing is a dream come true for me. I used to read those ‘get rich quick‘ schemes where if you bought this book it would tell you how to get paid to review books. I couldn’t believe there was a job where you could get PAID to READ! I think I might have even bought one of those ‘guides’ only to find out it was for freelance writing and the resources were slim on any hard evidence of how to break in.

*sigh* Oh well…

Then the Internet came along and I got involved with BookRix. Hmmmm people wanted me to read their books. Cool. Then I heard tell about these people called book bloggers and how important they were to this new thing called Indie Authors.

I was invited to a blog hop by the Indie Book Collective and I GOT FREE EBOOKS! Just for commenting. I mean they just emailed them to me. No strings attached. Oh well, I’ll bet it’s because they’re not that good. So I started reading one and you know what, it was great! I was completely surprised… and ready for more.

I checked out how some blogs were set up and set up my own with review policy and everything. I’m booked until 2015 doing reviews. I don’t regret it a bit. In fact I’m doing a read-along with cabingoddess.com of a traditional author and am happy to report that the Indie books I’ve been exclusively reading (the ones I like) are just as good if not better. Pretty exciting.

So I love free books (life-long eclectic reader). I love paying for them by leaving reviews. I like meeting the authors and talking about their books. I like helping promote them in some small way. I think the next step for me is talking about the books (like an on-line book discussion) with these read-alongs that we just started organizing because as Girl-Who-Reads pointed out, if people aren’t talking about your book, then it doesn’t matter what you do to promote it.
