TO REVIEW OR NOT TO REVIEW

I DO NOT review
1. poetry (wouldn’t have a clue where to start)
2. short stories/novellas/anthologies (genre that has some masters of the craft – The Dead by James Joyce) I may feature these on Sunday with the hashtag – #weeklyshorts run by cabingoddess.com with your book title and short blurb (if I liked it) or just the book info. All posts will be shared via social media.
3. Non-fiction - too scammy.
I DO review fiction. Most genres are fine. I’m eclectic, but fantasy (urban fantasy is okay), sci-fi (has to be really original) and straight romance are my LEAST favorite. There are VERY few that I like well enough to read/review. Because of recent events I find horror to be irrelevant. A lot of graphic violence, I’ll pass. NO YA PLEASE! I’m not even particularly fond of college or coming-of-age as I’ve already read some good ones. I love world culture and languages so the more diverse the better. Originality even if not perfectly executed turns my head. Don’t start your story with the weather or a dead body, been done to death. I’m looking for something that grabs me by the short hairs.
I ONLY accept KINDLE copies to review. My eyesight has made it very difficult to read paperbacks. If you don’t have a KINDLE copy, I can’t review it.

REVIEWS are posted on the blog alchemyscrawl. The author/publicist has my permission to use the review for promotional purposes as long as you mention where it came from – Coral Russell, author of Sacrifice. If your book is listed on Goodreads, I will rate it. All books rated 4-5 stars goes on my Indies Good Reads list for the corresponding year. My reviews may appear on the website – theindieexchange.com – starting in 2013.

There is no guarantee that I will like your book. Most of the time I just didn’t connect with the story. Readers are fickle.

Due to the volume of requests I can no longer guarantee a date when your book will be reviewed except it will be sometime in the year.

If you are interested in a book review -

2012 – ALL books that I received that I wanted to review have been reviewed. I have reviews scheduled to go out from now until February 2013.

Books to consider for review 2013 - I have gone through the list and chosen about 50 books to review this year. If you see a review I liked it, if you don’t, I didn’t connect with the story.

2014 – I am part of The Indie Exchange and will only be reviewing if you are a participating author there. You can join the group on Facebook to participate in events and activities and be featured on The Indie Exchange.
